6TH, 7TH & 8TH GRADES HAVE COMBINED FORCES IN OUR ELECTIVE PROGRAM THIS YEAR AT ANSER. REBEKAH IS INTEGRATING SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS INTO FOUR SESSIONS OF ELECTIVES FOR THIS PROGRAM.Session 1: Welcome to the Code Studio!
The JH and sixth grade students of Anser had an opportunity to use Chromebooks, iPads & Ozobots to learn about computer programming. Here, 26 students made their own personal websites, and explored khanacademy.org and code.org to learn more about code. Here is a quick slideshow of our STEM lab Code Studio!
Robots
We have been using new little robots that follow each line we draw. We use certain colors to create a code for what the robot has to do. These very small robots are called Ozobots. We used the code to guide what they do and the path they follow. |
Session 2: Space Engineers
The JH and sixth grade students of Anser had an opportunity to explore and discover the forces and elements of space. Using our engineering skills, we designed your own Nanosat launchers, spacecrafts and mechanical arms.

Act like an Engineer!
Ask:
What is already out there?
What are my limits?
Is there a problem?
What supplies do I have available?
Imagine:
What can I make?
Brainstorm different ideas.
Plan ideas that have a purpose, then pick the best one.
Plan:
Sketch a blueprint of your idea.
Make note of any extra materials you might need.
Create:
Make and test your design.
Remember making mistakes and being wrong is okay! It is how we learn!
Improve:
Think about what went well and what didn’t go well.
Share your findings and designs with others.
Ask for feedback.
Make your design better!
